Mike Miz

"The Switchlock let's me focus on playing from my heart during a live show instead of worrying about bumping the pickup selector half way through a solo." ~Mike Miz
About Mike Miz –
Mike Mizwinski, better known simply as Mike Miz is a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Northeast Pennsylvania known for soulful and energetic live performances. Growing up in a family rich in Music and Art, his father taught him his first songs on guitar at age 7, and his mother exposed him to diverse musical styles from Doc Watson to Bonnie Raitt.
Mike began performing at local bars, theaters, and festivals with his first band - Appalachian Barnhouse band when he was 15. In his early 20’s, he was discovered by members of the cult European prog rock band-Gong, and toured for several years as a member of the offshoot Gongzilla, his first show being a NAMM jam at the troubadour in LA.
In 2010 Mike formed a band titled by his namesake - MiZ and recorded his first full length album “East Hope Avenue” in 2012. The album release party saw Garth Hudson from The Band join MiZ for the show as a special guest, and two of the songs from the album ended up in the television series Sons of Anarchy.
Original music and composing being Mike's main interest, it is his love of songwriting that led him to move to Nashville in January of 2019, where he currently resides. His first release as a Nashville resident "Virginia" was called “a monster of a jam rocker” by Rolling Stone. His Nashville debut album ‘Only Human’, released on Blackbird Record Label in April 2023 received favorable reviews from Relix, Paste, The Bluegrass Connection and more.
Mike performs over 200 shows a year and has had the privilege to open for Jason Isbell, Jakob Dylan, Blues Traveler, Derek Trucks, America, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Lukas Nelson, Shawn Colvin, Leon Russell, Chris Isaak, Peter Wolf, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Jackie Greene, Railroad Earth, and many more.
